Meghan Markle is set to celebrate her 44th birthday tomorrow, but it’s doubtful that many in Royal circles will toast to her honor. She still carries the “Duchess Difficult” moniker within Palace walls, and she’s often blamed for Prince Harry’s decision to leave the Royal Family.
Five years post-Megxit, numerous courtiers remain puzzled as to why Harry chose a Hollywood lifestyle over his familiar Royal life. Given Meghan’s brief training in Royal protocol, their conduct at public events has raised eyebrows among those who served the youngest son of the King.
At the 2025 Invictus Games’ opening ceremony, the couple was spotted sharing a tender moment. A photo capturing Meghan pulling Harry in for a kiss by placing her hands on his cheeks sparked outrage from one courtier.

“He’s a prince for God’s sake!” they exclaimed, visibly taken aback by the excessive public display of affection. In the meantime, another insider informed me that there’s no hope for Harry to mend fences with the Royal Family as long as Meghan is in the picture.
“They just don’t trust her,” the source revealed. However, this doesn’t imply that the family feud will continue indefinitely, but any family gatherings would likely be solo affairs. Meghan, I’m told, wouldn’t be welcome.
The family worries that any conversation with Meghan could become fodder for her various projects, whether that’s her Instagram account, cooking show, podcast, or media interviews.

Harry, on the other hand, has expressed his desire for peace and appears ready to mend fences – as he’s demonstrated in recent media appearances. “I would love reconciliation with my family,” he shared with the BBC in May. “There’s no point continuing to fight anymore; life is precious.”
Whether Harry manages to repair his relationship with his father, who remains under ongoing cancer treatment, remains to be seen. But one thing seems certain: Meghan won’t be involved in any reconciliation efforts.
Conveniently for the family, the Duke has already provided the perfect excuse, claiming it’s unsafe for his wife or children to visit the UK. As for Meghan, there’s no affection remaining, and she’ll be perfectly content to remain in their Montecito retreat.
The King appeared magnificent in traditional tartan last week while fulfilling duties in Scotland. Following the example set by Royal men throughout history, Charles embraces wearing customary Scottish attire, making it a wardrobe staple during his work in the region. However, this Royal tradition of donning kilts will likely conclude when the Prince of Wales becomes king, as he simply despises them!
While senior working royals like the Duke of Kent and the Duke of Edinburgh will continue the practice, tartan won’t feature in William’s vision to modernize the monarchy. The prince has been absent from the kilt-wearing scene for years, leaving the fashion statements to his wife.
It was a breath of fresh air to see Princess Beatrice and her family among the throngs celebrating England’s triumph in the Women’s European Championship on Tuesday afternoon.

Sporting a casual dress and sweater with her hair pulled back into a relaxed bun, the King’s niece seamlessly blended into the sea of jubilant fans. Alongside her were her husband, his son from a previous relationship, and their two daughters, all standing proudly on the Mall in honor of the Lionesses’ successful defense of the European title.
This served as a stark reminder that despite their Royal titles and close ties to the throne, royals are just like us, reveling in the nation’s victories just like any other citizen.
By cheering alongside everyday Brits, Beatrice underscored that unity, celebration, and national pride are still very much alive. Yesterday marked the eight-year anniversary of the late Prince Philip’s retirement from Royal duties at the age of 96. He concluded seven decades of service by meeting with Royal Marines in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace.
This marked his 22,219th solo engagement since his wife ascended to the throne in 1952. The Duke of Edinburgh’s daughter, Princess Anne, who shares her father’s stoic nature, is expected to continue her Royal duties well into her 90s.
Being a Royal isn’t as easy as it seems. It’s not all about fancy dresses, lavish feasts, and palace living – there’s also constant travel, the need to always be camera-ready, and understanding hundreds of different organizations.
While working beyond the typical retirement age is in Anne’s DNA, it’s not something most of us are accustomed to. The average retirement age in the UK is 64.6, but if Starmer’s Government has its way, we’ll all have to adopt the work ethic of the late Prince Philip.
