George Clooney is taking over the Great White Way after making his Broadway debut in Good Night and Good Luck on April 3. The 63-year-old is pursuing his stage dreams in New York City while his wife, Amal Clooney, and their two children, 7-year-old twins Alexander and Ella, are keeping a much lower profile.
According to InTouch Weekly, “Amal definitely doesn’t need to be in the spotlight” while her husband spends his days doing interviews in hopes of nabbing a Tony Award in June. Her career as an international human rights lawyer “is very serious” and she “would rather the public focus on that.” That’s why no one should buy into the hype that their 10-year marriage is in trouble.

How the marriage rumors began
While George’s longtime friends Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford showed up on opening night to support him, Amal was nowhere to be seen. “She’s with the kids,” George told reporters on the red carpet, per People. Amal went to see the show numerous times during previews, so she didn’t need to be in the audience that night — out of sight didn’t mean out of mind.
What some fans might have forgotten is that Amal lives a very big life on her own, she doesn’t need to live in George’s shadow. She followed her husband to the Big Apple for the run of the play, but that doesn’t mean her career is on hold.
“Obviously they have to work on their relationship like everyone else, but they’ve always had their own separate interests,” the InTouch Weekly source said while pointing out her visiting professor job at Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government “could complicate things further” during his run. “But they’ve had a lot of practice living separate lives while staying committed to their family. It may be puzzling to some, but so far, it’s worked for them.”
George admitted to The New York Times in February that he didn’t think he would ever “have much of a chance with her” before they began dating. He added, “I was 17 years older, and she seemed to have everything she needed.” Now, their goal is to take advantage of time because he’s in good health in his 60s.
“I had this conversation with Amal when I turned 60,” George continued. “I said, ‘Look, I can still play full-court basketball. I can still run around. I can still do pretty much everything I did when I was 30. But in 30 years, I’m 90.’” The dynamic duo’s plan is to “jam in everything [they] can” over the “next 20, 25 years” and they are doing it together as a family.
