A community has been left “shocked” following the discovery of a three year old girl found dead in a home.
Officers received a concern for safety report for a young child at a home in Austhorpe Court, in Colton at 11.06am on Wednesday, July 30.
Tragically, police discovered the body of a girl inside the property. A murder investigation has now been launched by West Yorkshire Police, with a woman arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to hospital to receive urgent medical care.
Neighbours have since spoken of their shock and grief, reports Yorkshire Live.

Drazen Priganica, an employee of a mental health charity who has his lived in the area for seven years, said: “It’s a terrible thing. You can’t tell what’s happened, [but] it will all come out.
“Then I can think more about why it happened. My heart goes out to the little girl and the family. Jesus, a little girl. Three years old. It’s no age.”

Steve, who has lived in the area for 20 years, said: “Obviously, it’s shocking. I don’t know what to say, really. Nothing happens here, it’s very quiet.”
A carer in the area, who didn’t wish to be named said: “It’s shocking. How could someone do a thing like that? It’s a sad story…three years old.”
Commenting on the area, she said: “We’ve never seen any kids, here. It’s all adults, we’re carers.”
Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson said: “Sadly when emergency services attended at an address on Austhorpe Court, Leeds, yesterday the body of a 3-year-old girl was found inside.
“A woman at the address was taken to hospital for urgent medical attention and remains there today in a stable condition. She has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
“We are treating this as an isolated incident and are not seeking anyone else in connection with it. I understand that such a tragic incident as this will cause shockwaves in the local community and that there will be speculation about what has happened.
“I would ask people to please let us investigate and if you do have any information that you think could assist our enquiries to get in contact with the investigation team.”
