A supermarket has reopened following major investment to transform its Brislington convenience store.

The Broomhill Road relaunch supports 14 local jobs and marks the second Co-op in the area to reopen after refurbishment in recent weeks, with the Avonmouth store also having undergone a similar upgrade.

Covering 3,000 square feet, the revamped Broomhill Road store now features an in-store bakery, a Costa Coffee Express, and a broader selection of fresh produce, healthy options and food-to-go items.

Shoppers can also find Fairtrade products, pizzas, flowers, ready meals, award-winning wines and everyday essentials.

The site has been fitted with new refrigeration systems to help cut carbon emissions and now offers a soft plastic recycling point. This facility accepts harder-to-recycle materials such as crisp packets, bread bags, ready meal lids, biscuit wrappers and pet food pouches.

Customers will also benefit from self-scan tills, designed to improve speed and convenience during busy shopping times.

In addition to its physical upgrade, the store will act as a fulfilment hub for Co-op’s quick commerce service, picking groceries for home delivery via its own platform and through delivery partners Just Eat, Uber Eats, and Deliveroo.

Member-owners of the Co-op are set to benefit from personalised offers and lower prices on staple items through its membership scheme. The retailer is also running its largest ever value campaign, matching Aldi prices on more than 100 everyday products including fresh fruit, milk, eggs and bread.

The Co-op has committed to supporting British farmers, with all its fresh meat – including ingredients used in ready meals, pies and sandwiches – sourced from the UK.

Lucas Holbrook, store manager, said: “The whole team is delighted to invest in Bristol and to relaunch Co-op’s Broomhill Road store. It looks fantastic, transformed with a fresh new look.

“We pride ourselves on being able to deliver the quality, choice and value which can be enjoyed by everyone, and really look forward to welcoming our members and customers back into their local Co-op. We’re here to contribute to local life and conveniently serve and support our community.”

The store will open daily from 7am to 10pm.
