Two cousins from Oxfordshire have helped England’s under-22 carp fishing team to claim a bronze medal at the World Championships.
Max and Aidan Whitehall played a key role in the team’s success at the World Carp Angling Championship, held this year at Lake Pietrafitta in Italy.
The England team, which also included Blaise Price, Ed Dyer, Fin Newnham, James Floyd, Alfie Rock, and Isaan Patel, finished third overall after a strong team performance.

Despite this, they managed to land three fish and secure third place in their section, contributing crucial points to the team’s overall score.
A spokesperson from Linear Fisheries said: “The collective efforts of the entire team resulted in a well-earned bronze medal finish, highlighting the depth of talent within England’s youth carp scene.
“Their success is a reflection not only of their angling ability but also the support and guidance of the coaching team and manager.
“This impressive result at Lake Pietrafitta not only brings pride to the national team but also shines a spotlight on local grassroots talent emerging from places like Oxfordshire and beyond.
“Congratulations to the England under-22 carp team on an outstanding achievement on the international stage.”
