Lindsay Watson (Powerhouse Sport) has claimed victory in the Haldane Fisher North Down Grand Prix on Sunday morning, though one of the rapidly emerging juniors on the Irish scene, Elliot McKeegan (Team Madigan CC), stepped up today.

Though Watson is one of the most prolific winners on the home scene and has one most of the bigger races in Ireland, including Rás Mumhan, 16-year-old McMeegan, already a junior international, matched him to the finish.

However, as the duo went to the finish, it was Watson who got the gap on the on the Orlock climb in Donaghadee to clinch the victory from McKeegan.

Ciaran Maguire (Dan Morrissey Pissei) was best of the rest, taking 3rd place from John Buller (Banbridge CC), with Sean O’Kane (Orwell Wheelers CC) 5th and Neil McKenna (AHC Racing) rounding out the top six.

In the C3 race, Jamie Clarke of promoting club North Down Cycling Club, took a solo victory from the Crossgar Cycling Club duo of Simon Torrens Spence and Paul Keary.
