Four fire crews and an aerial ladder platform were called to reports of a fire in a disused building on Dock Road at 5.51pm on Saturday, August 3.

Arriving at the two-story building just four minutes later, two firefighters wearing oxygen masks went in to tackle the blaze from the inside.

A service drone was used to assess the progress of the blaze, and the building was split into sectors.

Dock Road was closed in both directions, and the public was advised to avoid the area.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service reported the fire was put out by 7.11pm, and the crews had left the scene by 7.36pm.

Its spokesman said: “Crews were alerted a 5.51pm and arrived on scene at 5.55pm.

“Four fire engines, an aerial appliance, and the service drone were at the scene.
