Sunderland and Leeds have been heavily involved with each other this summer.

The Black Cats are guilty of pinching several targets from those at Elland Road, as both aim to survive in the Premier League next season.

Sunderland signed Habib Diarra from Strasbourg ahead of Leeds, and also pipped the Whites to the capture of Noah Sadiki from Union Saint-Gilloise.

The next player Leeds and Sunderland look set to do battle over is Evann Guessand of OGC Nice – and the French club have just signed an apparent replacement in Ransford Konigsdorffer.

Evann Guessand could soon be free to leave

TBR Football recently revealed that both Leeds and Sunderland are considering a bid for Guessand – and that the Ivory Coast international is open to moving to England this summer.

As is often the case, the selling club aim to sign a replacement before sanctioning any exit, and that is exactly what OGC Nice seem to have done as a deal to buy Ransford Konigsdorffer from Hamburger SV has now been agreed.

That is according to Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport.

The Hamburger SV No.11 scored 14 goals in 32 appearances last season playing both centrally and on the right – two positions Guessand also frequented for OGC Nice – so it would appear that Konigsdorffer is a replacement.

TBR Football understand OGC Nice value the man born in Ajaccio at £22m – after he scored 13 goals and provided ten assists in 42 appearances last season.

Tottenham also asked about Evann Guessand

Leeds and Sunderland could face competition if OGC Nice open up a bidding war for the 24-year-old.

TBR Football revealed in June that Tottenham and Crystal Palace had also made enquires over Guessand – with West Ham, Brighton and Wolves admirers of the Ivorian too.

Jose Mourinho is also interested in bringing the OGC Nice No.29 to Fenerbahce this summer.

Therefore, Leeds and Sunderland will have to be pretty convincing in their presentations to Guessand.
