A sparring partner of Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson has predicted the outcome of a potential showdown between the pair.

The unbeaten lightweight stars remain on a collision course to face each other, although a fight does not appear to be any closer to happening next.

‘Tank’ Davis currently reigns as the WBA world lightweight champion, with the most recent defence of his crown coming against countryman Lamont Roach Jr. The fight ended in a controversial split decision draw, with Davis keeping his belt but suffering a knock to his reputation after taking a knee in the ninth.

As for Stevenson, the 28-year-old from Newark holds the WBC world title at 135lbs, making his most recent defence against previously unbeaten Mexican contender William Zepeda last month, defeating the 29-year-old via unanimous decision in New York City.

Speaking to Fight Hype, former Olympian and 17-1 pro Cobia Breedy shared his thoughts on a potential clash between ‘Tank’ and Stevenson after previously sparring both fighters.

“So I know both of them and both of them are southpaw so that would be a very technical fight and a very like, hard fight to judge.

“I know Tank more than I know Shakur, I met Shakur, probably sparred Shakur once or twice and that was probably two or three years ago but I seen Tank more and know Tank a little closer, sparred Tank a few more times … I feel like that fight is a 50-50 fight but I got Tank.”

It has been reported by multiple sources in recent weeks that Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh has expressed an interest in finally making the fight next, with further developments set to be made in the coming months.

Davis’ recent arrest, as well as the talks to rematch Roach, will likely stand in the way. In fact, Hall of Fame fighter Tim Bradley believes the young star is ‘done’ with boxing entirely.
