Borussia Dortmund are considering re-signing Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho.

Sancho’s relationship with Erik ten Hag broke down in September 2023 and he returned on loan to Signal Iduna Park for a second stint with Dortmund during the second half of that season.

The winger signed for Chelsea on a season-long loan in 2024/2025, but the London club made an unprecedented decision to break their obligation to sign Sancho permanently after falling to agree on wages.

Chelsea paid a £5million penalty charge to United to break the agreement and Sancho has trained alone at Carrington this summer while his representative explores options in the window.

Sancho has been linked with Juventus and Fenerbahce, but has still not found a new club in August.

Dortmund have also been credited with an interest, although their manager, Niko Kovac, declined to be drawn into speculation when he was recently quizzed by Sky Sports Germany.

However, Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, was more forthcoming: “[Jadon] is constantly being linked with us. I understand the desire. We’re thinking about it within our possibilities. The conditions have to be right. We will definitely do something, but we’re limited.”

Dortmund chiefs publicly said they were delighted with Sancho during his six-month loan spell in Germany, but they did not bid for Sancho to sign him permanently again last summer.

Chelsea subsequently deemed Sancho’s contribution of five goals and 10 assists during his time at Stamford Bridge last season as not good enough for the wages he wanted during talks.

Sancho was regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting players when he arrived in Manchester for £72.9million, but his time at Old Trafford has been disappointing.
