A Good Morning Britain star was hit with backlash after comparing Prince Harry‘s wife, Meghan Markle, to his late mum, Princess Diana. Reporter Narinder Kaur took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to praise the Duchess of Sussex ahead of her 44th birthday but what was supposed to be a sweet post soon turned to chaos.

Sharing a video collage of Meghan smiling and posing, the GMB presenter wrote: “It’s hard to believe Meghan Sussex will be 44yo tomorrow! Whether you like her or not, you can’t deny she looks INCREDIBLE for her age. Meanwhile, her critics are ageing like milk in a heatwave. Looks like leaving the Firm was the real beauty secret! Keep glowing Meghan.” She ended the post with some sparkly star emojis. But it was in the comments that followed where outrage was sparked, as one fan wrote: “I appreciate her as your princess. In my opinion, she’s a bit like Diana.”

Narinder then replied: “I don’t think we can ever compare to Diana..but she’s close,” sparking fury from her followers. Many shared laughing emojis and memes, while others posted words of disbelief.

One fumed: “Close to Diana? What world are you in? They couldn’t be more opposite.” Another echoed: “She is nowhere near Diana in the comparison stakes and never will be, you need to pipe down Narinder.”

Someone else raged: “‘I don’t think we can ever compare to Diana..but she’s close.’ That is comparing dimwit!”

“She is nothing like Diana, she is a disgrace and she has no titles and is nothing to do with the Royal Family,” another outraged fan wrote.

An expert recently shared how Meghan is unlikely to ever win over the love of the British public. Speaking on the podcast Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered last year, expert Robert Jobson said: “If Meghan spends her life worrying about whether she’s liked or not invariably [she’ll] end up disappointed because some people like you and some people don’t, that’s just the way it is.

“So can she turn herself around, Meghan in the UK? I doubt it, I doubt it.”

For her birthday, Meghan is believed to be spending her special day with her nearest and dearest, including her husband Prince Harry, 40, and their children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

Meghan has previously said on social media that her mum, Gloria, told her: “Birthdays are your own personal New Year.”
