Beginning as a pop-up in a traditional yatai ramen cart in a small alleyway by Glasgow Central station in December 2016, the favourite noodle spot quickly gained recognition as the go-to place for authentic Japanese ramen.

The brand operates two city locations, both in the west end, where it has been serving authentic Asian cuisine for nearly ten years.

Taking to social media, the eatery announced it was “almost time to say sayonara” to the Argyle Street shop.

However, it’s not all bad news, as the firm has hinted at “exciting things on the horizon,” necessitating the venue’s closure.

In a bitter-sweet Instagram post, Ramen Dayo said: “Finnieston, it’s almost time to say sayonara!

“Ramen Dayo Finnieston will be CLOSING its doors in just a few weeks.

“We have loved our time in Finnieston but new exciting things are on the horizon and we need to close our Finnieston branch to do them.

“So get down here while you still can and keep your eyes on our socials for the next chapter.”

The shop added: “We’re so grateful for everyone who’s slurped noodles with us here in Finnieston, but this isn’t goodbye… it’s just see you soon.

“Make sure you join our mailing list at ramendayo.com to be the first to know about our exciting plans.

“And don’t worry, you can still get your Ramen Dayo fix at our Ashton Lane branch.

“Exciting times are ahead!”

Devastated fans quickly took to the comments to share their love for the beloved foodie haven.

One wrote: “Oh no! Gutted as we didn’t get a chance to visit yet. Might you ever open a branch in Edinburgh?”

Another commented: “OhmyGOSH!”

A third added: “Absolutely gutted. I live locally and this is one of my favourite restaurants.

“Good luck with your new venture, but you’ll be missed!”
