Former Bristol Rovers midfielder Luke McCormick has joined National League side Yeovil Town on a one-year deal following his release from the Gas this summer.

The 26-year-old has been on trial at Huish Park over the summer, and even faced Rovers in their 2-1 friendly win against the Glovers last month, and has now earned himself a deal ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Yeovil have also taken on McCormick’s former teammate Jed Ward on loan for the season while Jevani Brown, who was also released by the Pirates this summer, has been on trial at the Somerset club too.

The midfielder first joined Rovers as a loanee from Chelsea in 2020 and was one of the few standout players in a relegation campaign, scoring six goals in League One.

Following his return to Chelsea, McCormick then joined AFC Wimbledon before making the move back to BS7 on a permanent basis in 2022 following the Dons’ relegation to League Two.

Injuries plagued most of the now 26-year-old’s permanent spell at the Mem and prevented him from building a consistent run in the team.

His fortunes improved in the first half of last season, regularly being part of Matt Taylor’s squad while scoring in league games against Peterborough United and Mansfield Town.

Following the arrival of Inigo Calderon, McCormick went out on loan to the National League, joining Forest Green Rovers for the remainder of the campaign ahead of his contract at Rovers expiring in the summer. The midfielder made just five league appearances for Forest Green, who were beaten in the play-offs by Southend United.

Over four seasons across two spells, McCormick made 118 appearances for the Gas, scoring 13 goals and registering six assists.

Yeovil’s campaign gets underway this weekend when they host Hartlepool United.
