Good performances, good results and a happy camp have given Man United a good base to head into the new season.Yoro excelled on tourYoro excelled on tour

Leny Yoro accepts the “bulls**t” that comes with playing for Manchester United but has promised that they will enact their “revenge” in the forthcoming campaign.

United suffered their worst season in 51 years last term and failed to qualify for Europe for only the second time in the past 35 years.

Head coach Ruben Amorim is targeting European qualification, at the very minimum, and United have enjoyed a propitious pre-season tour of the United States.

United won two and drew one of their three Premier League Summer Series matches to win the competition and the 19-year-old Yoro is feeling bullish about their prospects for the new campaign.

“There are a lot of people that want us to fail and we know that,” Yoro said. “But there are also a lot of people that want us to do it, to do great things.

“We just focus on the fans, you know. We don’t care about what they say outside, about the media. Everyone said bulls**t about us last year. But I understand because we didn’t do really well.

“But this season will be different, I hope for us. We don’t need to listen to this and just be focused on ourselves. When you play for Manchester United, you need to have the mindset of being the best version of yourself.

“I think what they did last season was a mistake for us. When you’re Manchester United, you cannot be at this position. The fans know it, everyone knows it. I think we understand this.

“This season will be different for us. It will be like a revenge from last season. We need to do better.”

United captain Bruno Fernandes described aspects of United’s performance in the 2-2 draw with Everton as “lazy”. Everton came from behind twice to deny United three straight victories in Atlanta on Sunday night.

Amorim suggested the issues with the performance could benefit the players as they will not be lulled into a false sense of security when they return to their Carrington training complex.

“I would not say disappointed because we did a good tour,” Yoro added of the result. “We arrived first. This is good. We didn’t lose. We know we can do better. But still the pre-season, there are still some things to improve. I think we can be happy with what we did during this tour.

“Of course, this last game can be different. But it’s still good for us to have this type of game to improve.”
