Southampton have made a counter-offer to Everton for Tyler Dibling, according to David Ornstein.
The Toffees have been pushing to bring Dibling to the club this summer, but the Saints aren’t budging on their asking price. Despite their relegation to the Championship, Southampton are looking to demand a significant amount of money for Dibling to depart, and Everton are playing a patient game as they look to secure his signature.
David Moyes is in desperate need of a new right-sided attacker after Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom’s loans both ended at the end of the 2024/2025 campaign. The Toffees now have no right wing remaining at the club, with the likes of Dwight McNeil and Carlos Alcaraz filling in there during pre-season.
David Ornstein: Southampton Make Dibling Offer to Everton
£50m all in with a sell-on clause
Reporting for The Athletic, Ornstein has confirmed that Southampton have made a counter-offer to Everton after their latest bid, and the Toffees are now focusing on other targets, but talks remain ongoing between the two clubs.

Southampton are asking for a fee of £45m plus £5m in add-ons, and are hoping to include a 25% sell-on clause in the deal. It’s unclear whether Everton have completely shifted their focus to other targets or if it’s a ploy to try and lower the potential asking price. Southampton don’t appear in an immediate rush to offload Dibling, but it’s interesting to see that they are willing to come to the table with a counter-offer.
Everton aren’t allowing themselves to be taken for a ride in the transfer market so far, and a move for Dibling will be no different. There’s no doubt he’s a key target for the Merseyside club, but Everton are playing hardball just as much as Southampton are when it comes to negotiations for the England youth international.
