From dog walks and rural rambles to field outings, the royals always manage to look stylish, and there’s one item that Prince William seems particularly fond of donning for outdoor engagements. Prince William was spotted wearing a pair of Le Chameau Chasseur Wellington Boots during his visit to Dartmoor National Park in June.

The French footwear brand is known to be a Royal favourite, with Duchess Kate also having been seen sporting a pair from the brand. Obviously, they’re not cheap but there are neoprene-lined alternatives on the market that are also great for the great outdoors in inclement weather.

The Le Chameau Chasseur Boots come in various linings, and the brand confirmed that the Prince of Wales opted for the neoprene lined version, which retails at £330 and is available in two colours, classic green and black.

One shopper said that their Chameau welly boots lasted for a decade. You can shop for them here or read on to find out about the cheaper alternatives we’ve found.

For those who don’t wish to splurge on wellingtons, there are more affordable pairs on the market, such as the Burford Insulated Rubber Boot from Ariat. Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, has been seen wearing this exact pair, which are priced at a much more affordable £165.

That’s still quite a lot for a pair of wellies, obviously, but help is at hand as we’ve found a neoprene-lined pair for a fraction of the price.

Mountain Warehouse’s summer sale has reduced the price of Mucker Neoprene Long Boots from £79.99 to £49.99. These boots feature a neoprene upper, reliable gripped outer sole and a cushioned EVA midsole for ultimate comfort, reports the Express.

Returning to the Le Chameau pair, they are designed with a full-length side zip, allowing wearers to remove the boots with ease rather than having to wrestle them off. The waterproof Riri AQUAzip and rubber strap ensure an excellent fit.

The boots are also equipped with 3mm of neoprene, providing excellent insulation, though it lacks breathability so your feet might get a bit sweaty but the alternative is being cold. This is paired with a shock-absorbing, insulating all-terrain outsole that delivers outstanding arch support.

The Chasseur boots cater to both men and women, with women’s sizes ranging from UK2.5 to UK9 and men’s sizes from UK6 to UK15. Customers can select the best fit for their calf size too so they fit snugly but without being too tight.

One satisfied customer “highly recommended” the boots, sharing: “I had my previous pair for eight years. Went straight to Le Chameau direction. These new boots fit the same, feel the same and let’s hope they last the same.”

Another shopper, on their third pair, remarked: “These are my third pair. I can’t remember whenever I bought my first pair, but can say I’m getting over ten years’ wear per pair of boots. Warm and very comfortable. They only took 24 hours to arrive after placing my order.”

Some buyers did note that the boots tend to be large in size, leading them to opt for a smaller size, while a few encountered issues with receiving incorrect pairs.

However, numerous customers praised Le Chameau’s quality, with one stating: “Worn practically every day for dog walking in woods. Expensive but worth the money for the comfort. Warm even in coldest temperatures.”
