Update [Tue 5th Aug 2025, 4:30pm]:

Following teases and leaks, the official accounts for Hell Is Us have confirmed the game’s playable demo is heading to consoles, including PS5:

The demo will be available to download and play from 12th August 2025.

If we presume it’s the same as the PC demo from a couple of months ago, this is the official word on what it comprises:

The demo begins right at the start of the game. You’ll step into Rémi’s shoes, armed with only the limited information he has, and begin your descent into Hadea. This introduction is meant to ease you into Hell is Us and its core gameplay systems.

It won’t show you everything the full game has to offer — it’s just the beginning.
Some of the key elements, like exploration and the player plattering experience, truly come into their own as the world opens up and the layers unfold.

Are you excited to give Hell Is Us a trial run next week?

Original Story: The very promising action adventure game Hell Is Us finally arrives on PS5 in about a month’s time, launching on 4th September — but it appears as though you may get a chance to check it out beforehand.

Social channels for the game have been teasing something with a fill-in-the-blanks puzzle, and a phrase that fits is “demo on consoles”. It seems all will be revealed at some point today:

And if that’s not enough, PS Store watchdog PlayStation Game Size has provided a much more blunt clue that a demo for the game is inbound.

A playable demo for Hell Is Us came to PC earlier in the year, and with the game just a few weeks away, now seems like an opportune time to make that same demo available on consoles, including PS5.

Much has been made of the game’s lack of handholding, encouraging organic player discovery and exploration without objective markers. If you’re curious how Hell Is Us works, it seems you’ll soon be able to take it for a test spin.
