Liverpool are heading into what could be the most exciting season in years for the Reds.

Indeed, for the first time in a long time, Liverpool have added from a position of strength this summer.

Arne Slot’s side have made four major signings already, and with Alexander Isak on Liverpool’s radar, a fifth could soon be through the door too.

As things stand, Florian Wirtz is Liverpool’s biggest summer signing, and speaking to JD Sports, Wirtz has been asked to name which Liverpool player he’s most looking forward to playing with.

Unsurprisingly, Wirtz named Mohamed Salah as the player he was most excited to link up with at Anfield.

Wirtz was asked which player he’s most excited to work with at Liverpool.

The German said that he’s excited to play with all of his new teammates, but, most pertinently, he’s looking forward to sharing a pitch with Salah.

Salah was in Ballon d’Or winning form last year, and Wirtz could take him to the next level once again.

“Who are you looking forward to playing with at Liverpool?” Wirtz was asked.

“Of course, the whole team, but maybe Mo Salah. He was the best player last season, so yeah, I’m really looking forward to playing with him,” Wirtz said.

Florian Wirtz’s best career partnerships

Wirtz can’t wait to get working with Salah, and it may not be long before the German and the Egyptian strike up a serious partnership.

Indeed, Wirtz’s creativity combined with Salah’s finishing ability should lead to tons of goals.

Wirtz has had some fantastic partnerships during his career, but interestingly, most of his best combinations have been with number nines rather than wingers.

Of course, Xabi Alonso never really played traditional wingers at Bayer Leverkusen, opting for wing-back options instead.

However, Moussa Diaby and Wirtz did strike up a good partnership during the pre-Alonso period at Leverkusen, so there is reason to believe that Salah and Wirtz could work well together in the same way.
