The move, which is part of £75 million of funding announced for local hospice care across the country, was announced by North Somerset MP Sadik Al-Hassan.

Mr Al-Hassan described the funding as the “largest ever cash injection for end-of-life care”.

“In North Somerset, two nearby hospices that serve our community – have received funding in the largest ever cash injection for end-of-life care,” he said in a statement.

“I last visited Weston Hospiceare in January to see first-hand the compassionate care they offer to patients and the vital services that hospices provide.”
