A GREEN Councillor has crossed the Council chamber floor to join Solihull Conservatives.
In a shock move Councillor Jane Lamden for Chelmsley Wood has joined the ruling party on the authority.
Coun Lamden said; “I am pleased to join the Conservative Party and I look forward to continuing my work as a Conservative Councillor for Chelmsley Wood. My priority has and always will be to serve my community.”
The move increases the Conservatives majority to 28 seats on the council.
The Green Party now have eight seats in the chamber as the Liberal Democrat, meaning there is no main opposition party in the chamber.
Councillor Karen Grinsell, leader of the Conservative Group and Solihull Council said: “I am delighted to welcome Jane, who serves the Chelmsley Wood ward to our team.
“Jane brings great energy and dedication to our already committed and enthusiastic group.
“Her strong advocacy on behalf of her residents has been evident throughout her time so far on Solihull Council. I look forward to working with Jane and I know she will continue to work hard for her residents alongside her new Conservative colleagues.”
