Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street has cast former EastEnders star Pauline McLynn in a new role, as Catherine Tyldesley’s return as Eva Price is officially confirmed.
It was reported in February that Tyldesley would reprise her role after a seven-year absence from the ITV soap, with more recent updates hinting that the famous character could arrive in Weatherfield with a new husband.
In an official update from ITV, it has been confirmed that Eva will be joined by husband Ben Driscoll and “interfering” mother-in-law Maggie, who will be portrayed by Aaron McCusker and McLynn respectively.
The trio will arrive on the cobbled streets in October, with Eva and Ben promptly heading behind the bar to take over the iconic Rovers Return Inn. In true soap fashion, The Price/Driscoll family are said to arrive with a “bang” and a “suitcase full of secrets”.

They won’t be alone, with Ben’s two sons and Eva’s daughter, Suzie, accompanying them to Weatherfield. These roles are yet to be cast, though Tyldesley is already said to have begun filming so imagine confirmation can’t be too far away.
McLynn had a year-long stint as Yvonne Cotton on BBC soap EastEnders before departing in May 2015, with her previous roles including Mrs Doyle on Father Ted. She also appeared opposite McCusker in Shameless, meaning the pair are reunited on Corrie.

“We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow,” said Corrie producer Kate Brooks. “The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees ups galore.
“To have actors of Catherine, Aaron and Pauline’s considerable calibre at the beating heart of this family is absolutely wonderful, and we can’t wait for you to get to know and fall in love with them as much as we have already done. Strap yourselves in, it’s going to be an exciting and eventful ride.”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
