My first day of the Fringe, but many performers had already been up for a week, honing their shows before the weekend rush. So it was a gut punch to hear that dozens of performances were cancelled due to the storms battering Edinburgh. The Pleasance Courtyard shut down all outdoor shows until 6pm For artists who’d spent days fine-tuning their work, it was miserable news—and for those still going ahead, the pressure ramped up fast with the need to boost the spirits of the disgruntled punters. I can only imagine how fast wind-related jokes are being shoehorned into sets.
Tape Face :20
Back at the Fringe after a 6 year Las Vegas residency, Tape Face (formerly The Boy With Tape On His Face) celebrates 20 years of surreal, side-splitting brilliance. Sam Wills’ signature blend of mime, comedy, and interactive theatre.
It’s been over a decade since I last saw him in Edinburgh—long before his breakout on America’s Got Talent—and even then, he was packing out venues with his magnetic weirdness. Tonight, not even the high winds could keep fans away, as they soaked up every moment of Tape Face’s inventive chaos. No two shows are ever the same. Audience participation is the beating heart of the experience, and watching a nervous volunteer transform from shy guy to Full Monty superstar is pure gold.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or a curious newcomer, this anniversary show is a must-see celebration of creativity, absurdity, and silent genius.

His first hour is a knockout: confident, sharp, and effortlessly funny, all delivered in his second language.Think Joel Dommett’s charm meets Maisie Adam’s narrative bite, with a sprinkle of mischief. Thor dives into dating in London, family dynamics, one night stands, and even Centre Parcs—all served with a devilish grin and a knowing wink.Surely this will be up for awards at the end of the run.

Lachlan Werner:WonderTwunk
Set in a surreal big top dripping with eerie charm, the show blends physical feats with razor-sharp humour and just the right amount of chaos. Lachlan’s latest spectacle is a masterclass in ventriloquism comedy—darkly camp, wildly inventive, and unmistakably Fringe. It’s always a thrill to enter a Werner-style extravaganza, and this one feels tailor-made for late night punters craving something wicked and unforgettable
