It’s at this time of year that people’s attention turns to summer, and all of the festivals, events and street parties that come with it. And over the last few years, Stockport town centre has become well known for hosting some of the best.

Now, one of those street parties, which completely took over part of the Old Town near the Marketplace has confirmed its return – but this time it’s moving to a new venue.

SK1 Records will be moving their popular street party from The Underbanks to Merseyway Shopping Centre Car Park this May.

In a post online, the record store told followers: “The long-awaited return of our now legendary street parties is over.

“Last year’s event was wild, but unfortunately, it was well over-subscribed, which led to the event being put on hiatus until we figured out how best to keep the party going.

“We’ve been working hard all winter to secure a way to keep these fantastic events happening, which has meant making the decision to move the event to the end of the road and up onto the Mersey Way Shopping Centre car park. Yes…A Party in the car park!”

The event takes place on the 2nd level of the Mersey Way Shopping Centre Car Park, inside the mid-century designed structure.
