EasyJet has unveiled a major expansion from Newcastle Airport for summer 2026, launching 11 new direct routes to popular destinations across Turkey, France, Portugal, Egypt, Tunisia, and Malta. This strategic move comes as the airline prepares to open a new base at Newcastle, enabling it to more than double its route network and significantly boost regional connectivity. The expansion not only offers North East travelers more affordable options for European and North African holidays but also supports job creation and economic growth in the region.
easyJet has announced a major expansion of its operations from Newcastle Airport, introducing 11 brand-new routes set to begin in summer 2026. This move more than doubles the number of destinations served by the airline from the city, marking a major step forward in enhancing regional connectivity and international access for travelers across North East England and neighboring areas.
The airline’s summer 2026 schedule will feature a variety of direct services to top holiday destinations across Europe and North Africa, giving travelers more choices for both leisure and cultural escapes. easyJet will now connect Newcastle to destinations in Turkey, Greece, Portugal, Spain, France, Malta, Egypt, Tunisia, and the Czech Republic, with new low-cost fares starting at just £28.99*. Travelers can now book from a wide selection of package holidays to these destinations through easyJet holidays.
The expansion supports easyJet’s wider growth strategy and coincides with the planned opening of a new base at Newcastle Airport in spring 2026. The new base will host three aircraft, enabling a significant increase in flight operations and destination variety. With the base’s launch, the airline is not only scaling its route network but also boosting job creation and regional economic impact.

The new routes add to the airline’s existing Newcastle network, which already includes flights to Alicante, Amsterdam, Geneva, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Paris, Bristol, and Belfast. These established routes have served as key links between Newcastle and major European cities, as well as popular leisure destinations.
easyJet’s expanded presence at Newcastle Airport will significantly improve travel convenience for residents across the wider region. The routes are expected to attract travelers not only from the North East but also from surrounding regions including North Yorkshire, Southern Scotland, and Cumbria. This broader catchment area positions Newcastle Airport as a strategic hub for outbound tourism and international connectivity.
Beyond convenience, the expansion also brings substantial economic benefits. The opening of the airline’s three-aircraft base is expected to support approximately 1,200 UK jobs, including around 130 direct positions at the airport. The increase in operations will also boost airport activity, contribute to tourism growth, and generate increased demand for regional services, transport, and hospitality.
Tickets for all newly launched routes are now available to book through easyJet’s official website and mobile application. Passengers can also explore a wide range of package holidays bundled with flights and accommodations, offering convenience and value.
This expansion cements easyJet’s role as a key player in regional aviation growth and demonstrates strong confidence in the North East market. The airline’s investment supports the long-term development of Newcastle Airport and offers new opportunities for both leisure and business travel.
