Antony allegedly makes it clear to Manchester United that he is only interested in returning to Real Betis during this summer’s transfer window.

Antony has reportedly made it clear to Manchester United that he is only interested in returning to Real Betis during this summer’s transfer window.

The Brazilian spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Real Betis, scoring nine goals and registering five assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.

Antony is part of Man United’s ‘bomb squad’ alongside Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia, with all four not a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans during the 2025-26 season.

There has been a host of speculation surrounding the forward’s future of late, with a number of clubs expressing an interest in his signature.

Al-Nassr are believed to have offered Antony a lucrative contract to move to Old Trafford, with the 25-year-old’s agent recently claiming that his client is open to moving to the Saudi Pro League outfit.

“What I can say is that the player is on the market, and there are several clubs that want to know his current status,” Junior Pedroso told WinWin. “We listen to the projects and analyse them. But he is open to moving to Saudi Arabia. Anything is possible, we are looking for what is best for him.”

Antony ‘only interested in Real Betis return’

However, according to Fichajes, Antony is only interested in returning to Real Betis this summer.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are struggling to agree a permanent deal for the forward, but there is a possibility that another loan could be agreed with an option to buy next summer.

Real Betis’ sporting director Manu Fajardo recently confirmed that his club are working on a move for the South American but branded it “a very complex operation”.

“We all have to be aware that this is a very complex operation. Given the player’s level and his recent career at Real Betis, it’s not an easy transaction,” Fajardo told Estadio Deportivo.

“But, as long as Antony hasn’t committed to a third party, we, with the utmost humility, will play our cards to be able to opt for Antony. I insist, despite this being a complex operation, we will try to carry it out in different ways without compromising the club.

“In the end, the most important thing is also the sustainability of the club. We will try to be creative, as we have been in the past, so that Antony can be here. Today, the market is open, as I said before, it’s very dynamic, and we are part of that game.”

Is there no way back for Antony at Old Trafford?

Antony was excellent for Real Betis in the second half of last season, while he was regarded as one of the brightest young talents in world football during his time at Ajax.

However, it has not happened for the attacker at Old Trafford, only managing 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances, and he is not in Amorim’s plans moving forward.

Indeed, Antony’s favoured role is the right-sided attacking spot, which no longer exists at Man United under Amorim, and it is best for all parties that a resolution is found before the end of the transfer window.
