Catalans Dragons boss Joel Tomkins on the sidelines

Catalans Dragons have announced the signing of young Australian prop Josh Allen ahead of the next Super League season. Allen has penned a two-year deal with the Dragons in a move that will see him swap Redcliffe Dolphins for the south of France.

Allen is yet to make a first grade appearance in his career, but the 24-year-old joins the club after impressing in the reserve ranks down under.

The forward started his career with Canberra Raiders and featured regularly in the club’s New South Wales Cup side before joining Northern Pride in 2024. He has spent 2025 with the Dolphins and featured for the NRL side in a pre-season friendly against North Queensland Cowboys back in February.

As such, he joins the Dragons eager to prove himself in the senior ranks and he’ll be keen to impress Joel Tomkins when he lands in Perpignan ahead of next season.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to be able to pursue a career with the Catalans,” Allen told the Dragons website. “It is a dream and a challenge I’m keen to take on. I’m looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season and proving myself in the Super League arena.”

Catalans Dragons boss on his latest signing

On his latest recruit head coach Tomkins said: “I’m looking forward to seeing what Josh can achieve in Super League.

“Having looked at his game closely this season, I think he has all the attributes to be one of the top front rowers in the competition. To get a front rower at 24 years old, with his best years still in front of him, is exciting for the club.”

Allen becomes the third overseas signing made by Catalans heading into next season, with Toby Sexton and Solomona Faataape joining from down under. Harvey Wilson of Salford Red Devils has also joined the club from 2026, while Ugo Tison will also be returning.
