Edinburgh police have locked down Princes Street following reports of youths throwing objects from a roof.
Officers were called to the scene at around 5.45pm on Wednesday, August 6, and have since closed off an area of both Princes Street and South St Andrews Street as enquiries take place.
Reports on social media suggest that Scottish Fire and Rescue are also in attendance, with a police helicopter seen circling the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.45pm on Wednesday, 6 August, 2025, police received a report of youths throwing items from a roof on Princes Street, Edinburgh.
“Officers are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.”
Lothian busses have been diverted from the area and trams are currently only running between Edinburgh Airport to the West End and Picardy Place to Newhaven.
