Hull FC have confirmed that three highly rated youngsters have committed themselves to the Black and Whites by signing new deals.

Matty Laidlaw, Will Kirby and Joe Ward have all secured new contracts with the west Hull outfit, ensuring they will be with the club beyond the end of the current campaign.

Laidlaw has been a valued member of John Cartwright’s first-team this season, making five appearances off the bench while underlining his talent and potential. The 21-year-old made his debut for the club back in 2022 and has already has 18 outings for the club.

With a one-year extension in the bag, he’ll be looking to compete for a spot in the side alongside the likes of Herman Ese’ese, Liam Knight, Sam Lisone, Brad Fash and Yusuf Aydin next season.

Kirby made his debut for the Black and Whites last year and has featured on two occasions this year. The 19-year-old back-rower has agreed a new two-year contract.

Ward has also penned a new two-year contract and the winger will be looking to build on his senior debut, which came against York Acorn in the Challenge Cup.

“I’m pleased that we’ve been able to tie down three more of our promising young players into 2026,” director of rugby Gareth Ellis said on the trio’s new deals.

“Matty has performed really solidly when he has been given those first-team opportunities this season, and will continue to add some impressive depth to our forward options next season.

“And both Will and Joe have made great strides in 2025 while playing for our Reserves, and on loan at Hunslet.

“All three players have applied themselves really well both on and off the field, and we’re really pleased to maintain that strong core of homegrown academy products within our squad as we move forward.”
