Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph is progressing towards a transfer to La Liga side Mallorca this week.

Daniel Farke has made it abundantly clear that attacking signings are needed for his side to be deemed ready for the upcoming Premier League test.

However, exits are expected soon with two players frozen out of plans: Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph, the latter out of the picture on his own request.

Mallorca advancing in talks with Leeds United over Mateo Joseph

Joseph rocked Farke during pre-season last month when requesting to leave the club and refusing to travel to the club’s training camp in Germany.

His desire to return to Spain fuels this ongoing refusal to be a part of Premier League preparations, having seen January and July approaches from Real Betis.

The latest comes from journalist Matteo Moretto, claiming that fellow La Liga outfit Mallorca are now well positioned to secure Joseph’s signature for the 25/26 season.

A straight loan is the deal in question with Leeds refusing to accept any offers that include a buy option for the Spaniard, as interest previously came from Betis and Girona.

Leeds United clearly see high value in Mateo Joseph amid Mallorca interest

Selling Joseph for an eight-figure sum would solve a key PSR headache this summer, but the club seemingly have other plans.

A La Liga side isn’t likely to want to pay such a fee for a relatively raw striker, even if everyone is aware of his potential.

This loan deal could be just what Joseph and Leeds need though, allowing him a chance to leave and get valuable playing time while also boosting his profile and transfer value.

The best case scenario is him returning to Leeds a much better player and ready to make a consistent impact, another scenario is we sell him for much more than we could now.
