The last fortnight has proved to be incredibly frustrating for those of a Leeds United persuasion, and none will be more annoyed than sporting director Adam Underwood.

Failure to sign Igor Paixao came after Leeds even had a bid accepted for the Brazilian, but Marseille finally stumped up the cash to land his signature at the last minute. Paixao has explained why he chose France.

It is now 12 days since Leeds signed Lucas Perri, the goalkeeper arriving as a new signing while Leeds were still in Germany. It doesn’t help that Sunderland have spent north of £120m on new players so far.

Burnley are set to splash the best part of £50m on Chelsea duo Lesley Ugochukwu and Armando Broja. Leeds continue to be frustrated in their attempts to sign players, and another can be added to that list.

Back in the summer of 2024, Bobby Clark made the brave move to leave Liverpool and go abroad after just 14 appearances. His move was helped by Jurgen Klopp’s old assistant Pep Ljinders joining Salzburg.

He moved to Brenden Aaronson and Max Wober’s old club, but things did not go to plan. It was not long before Ljinders was sacked, and injury limited Clark to just 17 outings following his £10m transfer.

A return to England was always likely for Lee Clark’s son, and he has now joined Derby on loan. According to The Chronicle, he rejected both Leeds and Sunderland to join Derby, and was offered to Newcastle.

Clark has been on Leeds’ radar for quite some time. Not only have Leeds seemingly tried to land the ex-Anfield attacker this summer, but a year ago, reports said Leeds were monitoring Clark prior to his move.

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

It is surprising that Clark has chosen to join Derby over a move to Premier League sides Sunderland and Leeds. Even more so with Leeds, given Clark is contracted to a RedBull club and yet, still rejected Leeds.

It is another one that bites the dust for Daniel Farke, Underwood and Leeds and with just 11 days to go until the opener against Everton, surely something has to give. Major attacking reinforcement required.
