A viral bakery in Manchester known for its decadent creations has announced it will be opening a brand new venue in the city centre.
Gooey, which has been praised by famous fans including the likes of Lizzo and food critic Jay Rayner, started life in 2020 as a delivery-only service during the pandemic and quickly expanded into one of the city’s best-loved spots for its street food treats.
Known for its French Toast, which features creme patissiere, dulce de leche, maple syrup and salted butter within homemade brioche, Gooey also serves a range of donuts, cookies and brunch dishes, as well as sandwiches and other treats that are all freshly made in house.
Having since opened up kiosks at Ducie Street Warehouse and within the Selfridges store at the Trafford Centre, Gooey also has its permanent bakery and café base on High Street in the Northern Quarter.

The Gooey team, who are also behind acclaimed pasta spot Onda, have now announced they will be opening another bakery in Manchester later this year – and it’ll count Onda as a neighbour, which opened its doors last summer.
It has been confirmed that Gooey will be moving into the Circle Square neighbourhood, just off Oxford Road, where Onda is situated, alongside the likes of other popular foodie spots like Detroit Slims, Bagel Factory, and The Tap House.
In fact, the new location will see Gooey return to one of its founding locations – having had a presence at Hatch on Oxford Road from 2021 until 2023 when it was announced the site would close.
Whilst in the city for her tour, American music superstar Lizzo praised the bakery for its ‘ten out of ten’ sandwich a few years ago, and proclaimed that ‘Manchester got the good good’.

Charlotte Wild, Head of Retail & Leisure at Bruntwood SciTech said: “Gooey is an incredible local brand who continue to grow, evolve and innovate, with ever more exciting desserts.
