Latest Manchester United news and gossip as David De Gea prepares to return to Old Trafford

Manchester United have confirmed their plans to welcome David De Gea back to the club when they face Fiorentina this weekend.
United will take on the Serie A outfit in a pre-season friendly at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. The fixture will be United’s final match before their Premier League opener against Arsenal on August 17.
De Gea left United in the summer of 2023 as a free agent when his contract with the club expired. The Spain international went on to spend a year without a club before going on to join Fiorentina on a free transfer last summer.
United replaced De Gea with Andre Onana between the posts two summers ago, and now the duo will go head-to-head this weekend. Ahead of the fixture, United have confirmed they have plans in place for when De Gea returns to Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Reds have confirmed that there will be a presentation pre-match to honour De Gea’s time with the club. Bruno Fernandes will lead the presentation, which will take place ahead of kick-off.
During his time at United, De Gea made 545 appearances and won five major trophies, including a Premier League title. He has since gone on to have an impressive spell with Fiorentina and helped the Italian club reach the semi-final of the Conference League last season.
