A woman has been caught hiding the necklace in her hand before dropping the item into her bag while reaching for her purse.
A woman has been captured on CCTV ‘stealing’ a £2500 gold necklace from a Glasgow jewellers.
Haroon Jewellers, on Albert Drive, shared footage of the alleged theft from Tuesday August 5 at 4.40pm on social media.
In the clip, a woman can be seen hiding the necklace in her hand before dropping the item into her bag while reaching for her purse, reports Glasgow Live.
Police said to be investigating the incident.
In a post, Haroon Jewellers wrote: “THIEF ALERT – NICE TRY, BUT YOU’RE ON CAMERA. To the person who came into Haroon Jewellers today and thought they were in Mission Impossible… Spoiler: you’re not Tom Cruise. You’re just a thief – and we’ve got clear CCTV of you helping yourself to a necklace that didn’t belong to you.
“If it’s you watching this: just return the necklace before things get even more shiny and serious (aka police involvement). Please share this and help us identify this person. Let’s keep local businesses safe.”
A spokesperson for Haroon Jewellers said: “We’ve been proudly serving the Glasgow community for the past three years, and we’ve built our business on trust, honesty, and hard work.
“While this incident is upsetting, our security footage captured everything, and we’re fully cooperating with the police.
“The people of Scotland have been absolutely fantastic – the support we’ve received across our social media has been overwhelming. Haroon Jewellers isn’t going anywhere – we’ll keep doing what we do best.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.50pm on Tuesday, 5 August, 2025, we received a report of a theft from a shop in Albert Drive, Glasgow.
“Officers will speak to the reporter to gather more information.”
