Two men have been arrested after reports of men “in the possession of a firearm” after a fire at a block of flats in Edinburgh.

Officers from Police Scotland raced to Loganlea Terrace in the Craigentinny area of the city at around 5.30pm on Thursday.

Cops attended and found a property on fire. There were no reports of any injuries. Following further enquiries two men aged 22 and 29 were arrested in connection with drug offences.

Inquiries are ongoing. No weapons have been recovered. Inquiries to establish the cause of the fire are also ongoing.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: “Around 5.30pm on Thursday, 7 August, 2025, we received a report of men seen in possession of what appeared to be a firearm on Loganlea Terrace, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and found a property on fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

“Following further enquiries two men aged 22 and 29 were arrested in connection with drug offences and enquiries are ongoing. No weapons were recovered. Inquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.”
