Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.

We start this week on Saturday morning with the Middleton Makers Market, 10am-2pm, at Middleton Park Circus. Lots of lovely handmade items including clothing, jewelery, soaps and food; all made by local people.

It’s MHA South LeedsSummer Fair on Saturday morning at St Andrew’s Community Centre, Cardinal Road, Beeston, LS11 8AG.

Trinity Network host their Community Reflections Café on Saturday 10am-12pm at the United reformed Church, Nesfield Avenue, Belle Isle, LS10 3LG

Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club’s First XI take on Buttershaw St Paul’s CC at their Gipsy Lane ground, LS11 5TT on Saturday, starting at 12pm.

The Leeds Nigerian community will be holding a Fun Day in Cross Flatts Park on Saturday from 1pm. The free event will include a community parade, children’s races, football, bouncy castle, zumba, table tennis, plus live music and DJ.

On Sunday afternoon the Friends of Middleton Park present the Middleton Park Dog Show,  near the visitor centre. Lots of friendly categories for all dogs to enter. Check their Facebook page for details.

Hunslet RLFC take on league leaders York Knights at South Leeds Stadium on Sunday afternoon, kicking off at 3pm. Tickets at: hunsletrflc.ticketco.events/uk

The South Leeds Community Kitchen will be cooking up a free meal on Sunday, 4-5:45pm, at St Mary’s Church, Town Street, Beeston (opposite Nisa). Everyone is welcome.

On Wednesday the Hamara Centre in Beeston (LS11 6RD) is holding Community Open Day from 11am-2pm. Live animals, free food, Ronnie the Rhino and sports activities are among the attractions. It’s free and no booking is required

Breeze in the Park arrives at Middleton Park on Thursday. The session runs for 12-4pm, Tickets cost £1 per child from www.breezeleeds.org. There will be a relaxed session from 11am-12pm for children with additional needs.

And finally, Belle Isle Parade Garden Action Day is on Thursday from 12:30-4pm. Meet at gates next to the Post Office on Belle Isle Parade. Remember, Incredible Edible run a gardening session every Friday the Belle Isle Community Orchard, off the Circus.
