Holidays are expensive. Travel and accommodation on their own can get pretty expensive, and then there’s all the little extras you forget about. When did suncream become £15?

All of which is why budget airlines are handier than ever. You can save a lot if you sacrifice comfort on your journey, and from next year you’ll have even more choice as to where your cheap flight takes you, as Wizz Air has announced plans to launch five new routes to Spain from the UK in 2026.

The Hungarian airline is set to introduce five new flights between London Luton airport and Spain. The destinations will include the capital, Madrid, as well as Barcelona, Bilbao, Valencia, and Seville. These will join the only place in Spain Wizz Air currently flies to from Luton, Palma de Mallorca.

These new flights will run pretty frequently. There will be five each week to Bilbao and Valencia, and four to Sevilla. Journeys to Madrid will operate daily, with Barcelona seeing the most frequent flights at ten times a week.

And when we say budget, we mean budget. A one way Wizz Air flight to Spain costs roughly the same as a meal at Nando’s. Here’s exactly how much each of these journeys starts from:

  • Luton – Bilbao: £17.99
  • Luton – Barcelona: £17.99
  • Luton – Madrid: £20.99
  • Luton – Valencia: £17.99
  • Luton – Seville: £17.99

Bear in mind that these are starting prices, but they will go up with demand, and as the date of travel gets closer. Perhaps also take into account that Wizz Air has previously come under fire for poor customer service reviews.

All of this will begin on March 29 2026, so we’ve got a little while to wait. However, the launch date does coincide with next year’s Easter holidays, which makes this a great way of escaping the April showers.

A representative for Wizz Air said that the provider is ‘excited’ to increase its Spanish offerings, saying; ‘While some airlines stick to siestas, we’re bringing serious competition with our signature low fares and high-efficiency model…

‘We’re not just adding new routes – we’re here to shake up the status quo with more choice and flexibility, providing more opportunities to create unforgettable travel experiences.’

Luton Airport shared similar sentiments, describing the Spanish cities as ‘must-see’, and adding that it was ‘delighted to have secured these exciting new Wizz Air routes’.
