A $1.2 million investment from Surf Internet will fully fund the company’s coming fiber expansion into Fowlerville, Michigan, located in Livingston County.

Surf Internet, based in Indiana, announced the plans earlier this week, saying they’re part of broader efforts within Livingston County at large.

In their countywide effort, which is partly supported a Michigan program titled Realizing Opportunity with Broadband Infrastructure Networks (ROBIN), Surf Internet plans to reach 4,500 rural homes.

According to Surf Internet, the larger Livingston County project is half complete.

The internet service provider (ISP) has invested $9 million in the project, while funds from ROBIN have contributed $17 million, Surf Internet announced.

With their recent announcement in Fowlerville, Surf Internet has deepened their ties with the village.

In July, the ISP said they celebrated their project with the community at the 2025 Fowlerville Family Fair.

Part of a larger strategy

Through comments included in Surf Internet’s release, the ISP’s CEO said the company’s investment in Fowlerville is reflective of Surf Internet’s strategy in the area.

“This new investment in Fowlerville reflects the dual approach we’re taking across Michigan—using public-private partnerships where available, while also stepping up with our own capital when needed,” Crusie said. “Our commitment to Livingston County is strong and long term, and we’re proud to be helping close the broadband gap one community at a time.”

While most areas within Surf Internet’s ROBIN project footprint will get service speeds of up to 1 Gbps upon project completion, the ISP said select areas, including Fowlerville, will receive faster speeds, reaching up to 2 Gbps.

Recently, Surf Internet has also expanded access to service to Iosco, Handy, Cohoctah, Unadilla, and Conway townships, the company’s August 5 release stated.

Surf Internet expects to complete the full county buildout by mid-2026, according to its release.
