This morning, the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz, and the Undersecretary of Telecommunications, Claudio Araya, presented the “National Connectivity Registry” citizen portal, which will allow users to inquire about the range of fixed Internet services and mobile networks available in their areas of interest. This platform, developed by Subtel, aims to provide all the necessary information on companies’ commercial offerings in one place.

“We’re introducing a tool called the National Connectivity Registry, which aims to provide the information each person needs about which companies offer services at the address they’re searching for. What this tool allows is that, when you enter the address where service is required, the system will tell you which companies are operating in that area with fixed and mobile services. At the same time, it will give you the opportunity to click on each one, and it will take you directly to the company’s website to understand the plans those companies offer. This is very much in line with our role of providing information and coordinating efforts, in pursuit of better service to citizens, and we’re taking a new step toward closing the digital divide, which is part of our goal,” said the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz.

This citizen tool is part of the Zero Digital Divide Plan, promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications through Subtel, which seeks to address people’s digital connectivity needs. Internally, the information collected on the website will allow Subtel to identify priority areas where it can focus its efforts and deploy infrastructure to advance toward a zero digital divide.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary of Telecommunications Claudio Araya said, “What we’re creating here is a tool that will allow people to resolve super-simple issues, such as knowing if I’m looking for a new home to move to, knowing whether or not there are services in the area I’m looking at, knowing which companies provide those services, and whether they’re satisfactory for me. To make decisions, one needs information, and what we’re providing on this site is very high-quality information that will be updated over time. Today, we’re starting with the major telecommunications companies, and we’ll soon be adding other companies that provide more local services, so that when someone searches for an address, they always know exactly what telecommunications services they can choose from.”

Through an interactive map, on the website (https://rnc.subtel.gob.cl/) the services corresponding to the commercial offer of fixed Internet and mobile Internet coverage by technology and company are presented.
