The Madrid Open is rapidly approaching, representing the next ATP Masters 1000 event in the calendar.

Another such event in the Monte Carlo Masters has just concluded, with Carlos Alcaraz emerging victorious.

Andy Roddick thinks Alcaraz played with a different intensity in Monaco, where he clinched his second ATP title of 2025.

Alcaraz is capable of really shining on clay this season, with his current focus now on the Barcelona Open.

The ATP Tour has also moved on from the Monte Carlo Masters to the BMW Open, with Madrid up next in the schedule.

But there has already been a notable casualty for the tournament, with Alejandro Tabilo withdrawing from Madrid.

The Chilean ace has been replaced by Briton Cameron Norrie and German Daniel Altmaier is next in the list, with Tabilo having withdrawn from the BMW Open because of a left wrist injury.

The WTA Tour also heads to the Spanish capital in the near future, with former world number four Caroline Garcia having withdrawn from the Madrid Open too.

What ATP Tour titles has Alejandro Tabilo won?

Tabilo has been causing plenty of upsets in recent times, with the Chilean having knocked Novak Djokovic out of the Monte Carlo Masters earlier this month.

The victory over the third seed came after he edged past Stan Wawrinka, with Tabilo then losing to Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16.

Currently sitting 31st in the ATP Tour rankings, the 27-year-old reached a career-high of 19th last summer.

Tabilo is a two-time winner on the ATP Tour, but has yet to clinch success on clay courts in his career so far, with an opportunity now set to be missed in Madrid.

Norrie meanwhile, once the British number one, fell in qualifying in Monte Carlo before losing his opener in Barcelona.

The former world number eight did manage to make it through qualifying in Spain, but later lost to Karen Khachanov in round one.
