Police have issued a warning to people attending Manchester’s Caribbean Carnival.

One of the UK’s longest-running Caribbean carnivals has returned this weekend with a huge celebration at Alexandra Park, near Whalley Range and Moss Side, and an incredible parade featuring hundreds of dancers and troupes.

This year’s event, set to be attended by close to 60,000 people, is on the theme theme of ‘unity’ – celebrating the strength, diversity and togetherness of the many communities that make up Manchester.

Throughout the two-day celebration there will be a host of live entertainment, delicious food stalls, artisan vendors, and a family zone filled with activities and rides to enjoy. As ever, the event will also feature opportunities to honour Caribbean heritage as well as pay homage to community pioneers.
