Filming for the fifth and final season of Netflix’s The Witcher is currently underway with only weeks remaining. The fourth season that will see Liam Hemsworth’s debut as Geralt replacing Henry Cavill still has no release date, but at least we keep getting updates on what’s going on. Today we have more evidence pointing to the inclusion of the beloved Toussaint in the final season.
Taylor James cast as Baron de Trastamara in The Witcher Season 5

We’ve learned that actor Taylor James (Vikings: Valhalla, The Beekeeper) has been cast as Baron de Trastamara in The Witcher Season 5. While he doesn’t have a first name, the books have a Toussaint baron called Amadis de Trastamara. He appears during a feast at the Beauclair palace where Geralt and his Hansa were also invited.
As far as we know, the baron has filmed scenes for block 3 of Season 5, meaning episode 5 or 6. Moreover, he has filmed scenes with Geralt, Jaskier, Regis, Milva, Cahir, Zoltan as well as Geralt’s new friend and Toussaint knight Reynart de Bois-Fresnes, but most interestingly Fringilla Vigo. That means Fringilla will be part of the Toussaint storyline.
Whatever form the Toussaint storyline may take, it won’t be too long because if it’s in block 3 and the entire series is ending in block 4, there can’t be a whole lot. Perhaps an episode or two. On another note, we’re still investigating whether Angouleme exists in the Netflix series.
For those who may not remember or don’t know, Baron de Trastamara is a relative to Marlene de Trastamara, the woman with many spoons, who Geralt saves and gives a new home during The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine DLC.

The Witcher Season 4 is in post-production for a 2025 release. Andrzej Sapkowski’s new Witcher book Crossroads of Ravens is available in Poland and will be released internationally in September 2025. CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 4 is now in full production.
