Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing Roma striker Artem Dovbyk ahead of the transfer deadline.

Despite signing Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer, the Whites still want a number nine who can lead the line regularly in the upcoming Premier League season.

Joel Piroe won the Championship Golden Boot last season but is not expected to be the first-choice centre forward for Daniel Farke’s side.

Dovbyk suffered minor injury issues last season

Given their urgency to sign a striker in this transfer window, Leeds have already made contact to sign Dovbyk.

According to Calciomercato on 30 July, an exit could be on the cards for the 28-year-old, with the Serie A outfit demanding a £34million fee.

Dovbyk, 28, scored 17 goals in all competitions for Roma in the 2024/25 campaign and provided four assists as well.

Dovbyk’s stats from last season.

If the Whites are to sign him, Dr Rajpal Brar believes that they will look at his history of muscular problems.

Last season, he missed nine games for club and country due to various injury issues, including his thigh and adductor.

Dr Brar told MOT Leeds News: “Leeds will likely take a closer look at his recent history of muscular problems to assess the risk of recurrence moving forward.

“He faced multiple injury issues last season, so that is certainly a worry.

“However, the positive is that none of them were long-term setbacks and he did play over 30 league games.”

Dovbyk would be a stellar signing for Leeds United, significantly boosting their chances of avoiding Premier League relegation.

The Ukrainian striker’s proven goal-scoring record demonstrates his clinical finishing and adaptability.

His physicality and pressing suit Daniel Farke’s high-energy system, replacing departing forwards like Patrick Bamford.

The former Girona forward’s experience and 100+ career goals offer Leeds a reliable focal point to secure top-flight survival.
