More than 2000 years of history were condensed at Fort George this weekend, as the Highland fortress turned into a time capsule for the popular Celebration of the Centuries event.

Run by Historic Environment Scotland (HES), this is the organisation’s largest re-enactment — which was Scottish history come alive in front of spectators of all ages.

From the Picts up to WWII — passing through the Romans and a jousting tournament featuring Robert the Bruce, living history performers brought the past to life.

Gillian Urquhart, Events Manager at Historic Environment Scotland, said: “We were thrilled to welcome visitors back to Celebration of the Centuries at Fort George.
