Roger Federer played his last professional match at the Laver Cup in 2022, finishing his incredible career with a total of 103 ATP titles.
The Swiss legend has spent time away from tennis since retiring, but still remains involved with the sport, and recently attended this year’s Wimbledon championships.
Federer was also present at Rafael Nadal’s Roland Garros tribute ceremony earlier this season to celebrate the Spanish legend’s dominance at the French Open, making a surprise appearance alongside Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
Now, however, fans will be able to see him in action, as he is set to step back on court at an upcoming event.

It was revealed on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Federer will be returning to the Shanghai Masters to play in a celebrity doubles match.
The 20-time major champion said: “Hello, this is Roger, and I am really happy to be returning to Qizhong Stadium in Shanghai for the Rolex Shanghai Masters.
“Shanghai has always been a special place for me, with great fans, unforgettable memories, and a real love for the game.”
The tournament, an ATP Masters 1000 event, is set to begin on the first of October.
Roger Federer’s record at the Shanghai Masters
Federer found plenty of success at the Shanghai Masters over the years, having made several deep runs at the tournament, while winning it twice.
After the event relocated to the Chinese city in 2009, he made the final there in 2010, but lost to Murray, and reached the semifinals in 2012.
Then in 2014, Federer won the title after beating Gilles Simon in the championship match, clinching two tiebreaks to emerge victorious in straight sets.
In 2017, he hoisted the trophy for a final time, coming out on top in his bout with Nadal in the final.
