A man was detained after trying to ram police during a chase.

The occupants of a stolen Nissan Juke threw items at officers during a pursuit through Smethwick.

The driver also tried several times to reverse the vehicle into police before stopping and running away.

He fled through gardens but was chased by police dogs and caught.

The Nissan Juke was found to have been stolen from Birmingham.

Traffic WMP posted details of the incident on social media with an image of a man fleeing from the car.

WMP Traffic posted: “A-Unit #ANPRInterceptors pursued this cloned Nissan Juke around Smethwick in the week.

“The occupants in the vehicle tried throwing items at the police vehicle during the pursuit, and the driver attempted several reverse rams.

“Unfortunately for him, he was unable to evade the pursuing Police vehicle, so he tried his luck over gardens.

“He also failed in this attempt to escape and was detained thanks to great teamwork with Interceptors, WMP Dogs and Sandwell NPT.

“He was later arrested and remanded before court for several offences.

“Checks confirm the vehicle was stolen from Birmingham.”
