Bristol’s best and worst primary schools for average reading scores have been revealed.

Data from the UK government shows that, out of 137 schools, about a third have an average reading score that is above the England average.

In May, we shared the data for Bristol’s secondary schools, with the Government data showing the city currently has five secondary schools being rated as “well above average” for its Progress 8 scores.

We then looked at the data for Bristol’s primary schools and, across the city, 56 per cent of pupils met the expected standard at Key Stage 2 in 2024. This meant they achieved a scaled score of 100 or more in their reading and maths tests, and their teacher assessed them as ‘working at the expected standard’ or better in writing.

The average reading score across England is 105. Here are the best and worst primary schools in the city by average reading scores:
