On Sunday, August 10, officers on patrol saw a red Citroen car being driven in Moreton before the driver abandoned it.

The driver then headed towards a house on the street and became obstructive when challenged by officers.

The man was searched and a baton and two knives recovered, before suspected cocaine and paraphernalia connected with drug dealing were seized during a search of the property he ran towards.

A 40-year-old man from Moreton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug (cocaine), two counts of possession of a blade in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and driving while disqualified.

A 49-year-old woman from Moreton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug (cocaine).

A 40-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug (cocaine).

Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: “The vigilance o our proactive patrols has once again led to the seizure of drugs capable of causing serious harm in our communities, and weapons that could have been used to inflict serious injury or worse.

“Officers patrol our roads and streets every single day looking out for criminality and disrupting it to keep people safe.

“Their efforts day in, day out lead to seizures like these and the arrest of people suspected of bringing fear and harm to our streets.

“Offenders involved in the drug supply sustain an illicit trade that depends on threats, intimidation and violence to exist.

“They exploit vulnerable drug users and often also exploit vulnerable young people to do their bidding and store or transport drugs.

“We will continue to pursue anyone involved in drug supply through early morning warrants, stop checks, land searches and more so they can be brought to justice and our communities protected from the harm they bring.”
