Hunt, 34, has recently been on trial with League One new boys Bradford City, according to Football League World. However, he wasn’t offered a deal by the Bantams.
In this latest update regarding his situation, The Star report he is back with the Owls to build up his fitness. It is unlikely that he will be re-signed by the South Yorkshire outfit at this stage.
Hunt left Sheffield Wednesday back in 2023. At the time, he posted on his Instagram: “Good morning owls. Over 5 years, 2 spells and 180 games my time has come to an end at your special football club. All I want to say to you is thank you for welcoming me and my family from the day I walked through the door. Fans are the heartbeat of any football club and you’ll outlast any player. You’ve given me some amazing memories that will live with me the rest of my life. Keep been the best and I’ll see you all soon.”
Jack Hunt back at Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday first signed Hunt back in 2015 on an initial loan deal that was later made permanent. He played 108 games for SWFC during his first stint at Hillsborough.
The right-back then returned in 2021 after they slipped into League One. He subsequently helped them get promoted back to the second tier under ex-boss Darren Moore.

As well as the Owls, Hunt has also played for the likes of Huddersfield Town, Crystal Palace, Barnsley, Rotherham United, Bristol City and Bristol Rovers. The latter cut ties with him in late June and he remains a free agent.

What now for Sheffield Wednesday?
Sheffield Wednesday need to get some bodies through the door. SWFC’s squad is extremely threadbare and they are lacking depth.
The Owls put in a defiant performance against Leicester City and took the lead at the King Power Stadium through Nathaniel Chalobah. However, the Foxes fought back in the second-half to win, with Barry Bannan getting sent off.
Henrik Pedersen’s side are back in action on Tuesday night with a Carabao Cup away trip to the North West to play Bolton Wanderers. They then face Stoke City at home this weekend as they look to get their first win of the campaign.
