Xbox doesn’t really talk about demos these days, so it’s our job to sort through them and look for hidden gems every now and again – and we’ve spotted three from August already that are highlight-worthy additions to the Xbox Store.
The first of these is the demo for Gothic 1 Remake, and this demo serves as a prologue featuring “a short quest that introduces the atmosphere, iconic characters, and the opening area of the game”. It arrived for Xbox on August 1st, but it’s been available on Steam since February – where it’s racked up a “Mostly Positive” rating so far.
Second is the demo for Formula Legends, which is a new F1-inspired arcade racer in which you’ll “master reimagined circuits, pilot legendary cars, and chase glory across decades of motorsport history”. There’s a catch with this one though – a handful of Xbox players are reporting that it’s been crashing and even overheating their consoles, so it might be worth waiting until the full game releases in September or trying the demo on PC instead. Your call!
And finally, the third demo is for Deadzone: Rogue – a fast-paced roguelite FPS that looks very promising. The game is built for either solo or online co-op, and it’s been out on Steam since April where it has a “Very Positive” user rating.
Now, if those aren’t to your taste, you should still definitely check out the Game Demos section of the Microsoft Store to look at what was added in June and July. Something that stands out immediately is the demo for Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, which just missed our roundup here because of its release date of July 31st.
There’s some other good stuff too – a demo for cozy management sim RPG Discounty, another for the recently released action-RPG Edens Zero, a chance to check out Coffee Talk Tokyo ahead of its future release, and much more!
We’ll be back with another demo roundup when there’s another sizable selection of games to highlight, but yeah – don’t overlook the free demos section! It’s pretty much hidden away these days, but you’ll find some good freebies on a regular basis.
