The A77 Southbound is closed between Dutch House roundabout and Sandyford Toll roundabout in Ayr following a road crash.

Officers were called to the crash at around 1.35pm today and emergency services remain on the scene.

The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) have dispatched two ambulances and an air ambulance with a trauma team to the scene. 

A spokesperson for the SAS said: “We received a call at 1.29pm to attend a road traffic collision on the A77, between Dutch House and Sandyford Roundabouts.

“We dispatched two ambulances and an air ambulance with trauma team to the scene.”

It is currently unknown what caused the collision.

Though the road was closed in both directions, the A77 Northbound has since reopened. 

5.5 miles of the road is currently shut. 

Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
